These include various toothpastes, chew treats, and herbal remedies to help keep your pet’s teeth white and their breath fresh. We advocate what we call the dental trilogy. First, brush your pet’s teeth as often as possible; daily is best. Second, use a product that helps to soften tartar and prevent buildup. Third, offer chew treats or toys that help to mechanically remove any buildup of dental calculus. Apples and carrots work well and taste great. In some cases, despite the owner’s best intentions, pets still develop tartar buildup, gingivitis, and periodontal disease.
